Hitz FM goes through a makeover: new personalities, segments and sports

Accra based music and entertainment radio station Hitz 103.7 FM has introduced a new voice on its morning show, Day Break Hitz. Starting this August, Naa Adjeley Doku will co-present the morning show with the current host, Okyeame Quophi.

Naa, a Bachelor of Arts graduate of the University of Ghana has been with the Multi Media group for a year now working with Multi TV, where she is a Channel Assistant. Before the Daybreak Hitz opportunity, she was a co-presenter on Hitz FM’s weekend entertainment show, Weekend Lockdown.

According to the acting Programmes Manager, Sidney Tehoda, this re-assignment was not only necessitated by the exit of former co-host, Afi Dzakpasu but also because the station wanted to add some more excitement to the show. Daybreak Hitz airs on weekdays from 6am-10am with a mix of good music, lively conversations and entertaining interviews.

Meanwhile, Rheindolf Ofosu has been asked to host the station’s entertainment magazine show SCOOP which also airs at 4pm every weekday, replacing Amanda Jissih who used to host the show as well as the Nollywood updates at 10am and Hollywood updates at 6pm.

In their bid to properly position its sports programming component the station has also announced some changes in its sports programming. The 8:00am entertainment news updates have been replaced with sports news and tit bits and will be presented by Joy sports presenter Dennis Mirpuri. ‘So You Think You Know Sports’, a 3-minute trivia-like show that airs on the stations drive time programme Cruise Control at 5:30pm and which was presented by Kwame B, will however not see any major changes except the presenter, it will be presented by Daniel Oduro also of Joy Sports news. Both programmes will be produced by the Joy sports team.

Meanwhile, a new segment called ‘Ground Zero’ has been introduced on Cruise Control. Ground Zero is a celebrity gossip segment that seeks to investigate or dig deep into celebrity rumours and inform audience of its findings. Ground Zero is presented by a character called Young Jeezy and airs at 5: 05pm.
