Gospel Music Awards Nominations Out

The nominations for the Ghana Gospel Music Awards (GGMA) 2000-2002 have been released for the public to start voting. The awards scheduled for the end of May at the National Theatre is expected to be very competitive.
With the release of nominations, the public will be expected to vote together with the nomination committee for the eventual winners in each category.

According to Mr. Philymon Kann-Narnor, Events Manager of GGMA, organisers of the awards, public voting will commence immediately the advertisements appear in the newspapers and voting will continue until May 12, to give the Certification and Collation organisation enough time to come out with the results which will be announced at the awards ceremony.

Fifteen Categories will be awarded in addition to special awards which will go to individuals and organisations who have contributed to the development of Gospel Music in the country.

The nominations in alphabetical order are as follows;
Best Male Voice ? Ken Appiah of Soul Winners, Kofi Dua-Anto of Da Project, Pastor Joe Beecham and Rev. Berimah Kusi Brempong.Best Female Voice ? Afiba Addae-Mensah of Logos Circle Seven, Amy Newman, Cindy Thompson and Cynthia Appeadu (Nee Agyare) of Daughters of Glorious Jesus.
Best Praise Song ? Ao Yesu (Daughters of Glorious Jesus) Awanwa Do (Cindy Thompson), Nkwagye Kuruwa (Tagoe Sisters) W?ayeyie Ni (Gospel All Stars).

Best Worship Song ? Mede Aseda (Susie and Matt), Odomankoma (Nana Yaw Asare), Ofata (Amy Newman), Osahene (Esther Amoako).
Best Video ? Ao Yesu (Joe Beecham), Hio We (Soul Winners), Tie Memobrosu (Amy Newman), We Remember (Justice Nii Laryea).
Best Packaging/Sleeve ? Barima Yesu (Joyful Way Inc), From Welcome to Goodbye (Alabaster Box), No Jesus No Life (Soul Winners) and Use Me In Thy Vineyard (John Teye Memorial School Band).
Best Acapella Group ? Alabaster Box, Blacapella and Shepherds.

Best Large Group ? John Teye Memorial School band, Joyful Way Inc., The Commissioned Family and Winneba Youth Choir.
Best Medium Sized Group ? Gospel All Stars and Soul Winners.
Best Small Group - Daughters of Glorious Jesus, Jane & Bernice, Susie &Matt and Tagoe Sisters.
Best Instrumental Music - Albert Asante, John Teye Memorial School Band and Kojo Folson.
Best Album ? Aye Yie (Jane &Bernice), Cindy?s Messiah (Cindy Thompson), Mede Aseda (Susie &Matt) and Nea Ye Hu Yi (Daughters of Glorious Jesus).
New Artiste/Discovery ? Elder Amponsah, Esther Smith, Jude Lomotey and Noble Nketsia.

Best Choral Group ? Mt. Zion Methodist Junior Choir, SDA Deliverance Singers and Winneba Youth Choir.
Best Gospel Song ? Awanwa Do (Cindy Thompson), Do Something New (Elder Amponsah), Mokomoko Be (Jude Lomotey) and Okamafo Jesus (Amy Newman).
