Ghanaian appointed chairman of West African Chefs Association

Accra, Nov. 7, GNA - Mr Stephen Cofie Dzilah, President of the Ghana Chefs Association, has been appointed Chairman of the West African Chefs Association.

A seven-member delegation from Togo, Benin, Cote d'Ivoire and Nigeria who are members of the Chefs Association in their respective countries visited him on Tuesday to congratulate him and share ideas on the way forward in developing the West African Chefs Association. Mr. Dzilah, who is the executive chef at the Volta River Authority canteen and has practiced in various institutions as an executive chef for 43 years, told the Ghana News Agency that Ghana would soon join the World Chefs Association and that would mean putting Ghanaian dishes on the international cuisines map.

As a first step the Ghana Chefs Association would lead counterparts in the sub-region through various competitions aimed at perfecting their menus to enable them to compete favourably on the international scene, he said.

Mr Dzilah was appointed a member of the World Chefs Association in South Africa during the world chefs' conference where Ghana won a gold medal with the popular gari foto. He pledged his unflinching commitment to duty and said his immediate aim was to unite all chefs in West Africa.
