Francis Doku’s “THE SMS” to become a movie

According to enewsgh.com, writer and critic Francis Doku may have his first movie out before the end of this year (2014).

His story “The SMS” is being developed into a movie by Ghanaian producer and director Vincent Agbelengor Akiti.

According to reliable sources, Francis Doku wrote the story with Vincent Akiti writing the screenplay, and would also produce and direct the movie.

Akiti is not new in the Ghanaian film and television industry as he has written scripts for shows such as “Adults in Education”, “Dada Boat”, “Sun City”, “Taxi Driver” and “Abiba.”

He has also produced and directed movies and television series with his last movie being “Just The Last Fun” which starred John Dumelo, Roselyn Ngissah, and Papa Nii, among others, and has received critical acclaim.

A source familiar to the story hinted enewsgh.com that an impressive cast of some of the big name Ghana actors are being lined by the producers to feature in “The SMS”. They include Mawuli Gavor, Kafui Dankui, Psalm Adjeteyfio and many more.

It is also believed that costume for the movie will be designed by Elike Clothing.

When contacted, Francis Doku confirmed that he had written “The SMS” as a story, which rights Vincent Akiti acquired to produce a movie and subsequently as a television series.

However, he added that when all was set for the production a statement would be released to the effect.

Shooting of the movie is expected to begin before the end of July.
