Fight Over Majid & Dumelo

LAST FRIDAY’S premiere of Venus Films’ new movie, ‘The Beast’, was full of excitement as fans who trooped to the Silverbird Cinema in Accra to see the movie showed a lot of love for their screen princes.

It was indeed a night of star supremacy as some movie fans jostled each other for photo opportunities with actors Majid Michel and John Dumelo.

Even though it is common for movie fans to clamour for photo opportunities with the stars at every premiere, Friday’s experience was not just unusual but remarkable. Majid was the first to suffer the struggle after the first showing of the movie. After he came out of the auditorium, fans prevented him from leaving as several of them gathered around him and posed with him for the cameras.

When Majid attempted to leave after a number of photo shoots, those who hadn’t had their turn felt cheated and pushed forward to have their turn with the star. Fortunately, Majid took his time to grant each and every one of them a chance to take a picture with him.

After the entire show, John Dumelo also found himself in the same situation when a number of fans beseeched him for photos.

Finally, when both stars were leaving the Silverbird Cinema, some fans follow them and managed to grab photo shoots. While Majid was posing with some fans on one side, John Dumelo was also busy posing with another set of fans. The two screen men had to run away as the fans began to increase in number. This is a clear indication that photo opportunities with the stars have, besides seeing a movie, become one of the main gains of Ghanaian premieres.

Undoubtedly, the premiere was successful. It attracted quite a number of movie stakeholders. Among them were actors, producers, and technical personnel of the movie industry. Besides Majid and Dumelo, other actors present were Fred Nuamah, Prince David Osei, Ekow Smith Asante, Gloria Sarfo, Dan Tei Mensah, Kofi Adjorlolo and others. Fans were also there in their encouraging numbers.

The Beast’ had a good response from the fans as they applauded the movie after the screening. ‘The Beast’ is a story of an overprotective father who wants his daughter to make perfect choices in life. But what is perfect, according to him, may not be the same for his grown up daughter. She believes she is mature enough and capable of taking crucial decisions concerning her life.
