Farmer survives snakebite and seeks spiritual protection

Wassa Attobrakrom (W/R), July 18, GNA - A 40 year-old farmer at Wassa Attobrakrom, near Asankranguaa, Opanin Richard Asare, who survived a suspected snakebite, is seeking spiritual protection at the Christian Divine Church Prayer Camp at Tarkwa. Two weeks ago Opanin Asare went to the Attobrakrom Clinic and complained of bodily pains, swellings on the neck and the right arm and the attendant, Mr Matthew Opoku gave him analgesics and sent him away. But Mr Opoku, who narrated the incident to the GNA, said he had a dream in the night that a snake had bitten someone, who needed attention.

Incidentally Opanin Asare went to the clinic again the next day and Mr Opoku remembered his dream and asked him about it. Opanin Asare then told him that he saw a big black snake while having his meal the previous night and killed it with a pestle and burnt it into ashes, apparently not realising that the snake had bitten him earlier. The Clinic Attendant then applied "black-stone" used in the rural areas to treat snakebites and Opanin Asare responded to the treatment. Believing that the incident was spiritual, Opanin Asare went to the Prayer Camp.
