Entertainers Educate Youth On Safe Sex

PROMINENT Ghanaian actors and musicians thronged the premises of Hotel Joecarl at Tema last Friday to educate the youth in the area on the importance of safe sex, amidst entertaining activities.

The event dubbed Tema Rush Pool Party was organized by Backstage Productions, an event management company.

The theme; “Tema & the Youthful Practice of Safe Sex”, was aimed at encouraging the youth to constantly practice safe sex to avoid unwanted pregnancies and other sexually transmitted diseases.

The actors; David Dontoh, Fred Amugi, Rama Brew, Nii Saka Brown, Adjetey Annan, David Osei and several others, took turns to educate the over 200 present on the need to abstain from pre-marital sex, and on what to do in cases where they cannot protect themselves.

Fred Amugi, in his address, said the youth should not take advantage of the fact that because they can engage in safe sex they can go about having “indiscriminate” sex.

He asked that they rather focus on what they can do for themselves in terms of education and employment so they can create a better future for themselves.

Mr. Amugi, who has stared in several Ghanaian movies, spoke about how he started his career and how he has managed to succeed.

He also advised them to live disciplined lives so they can also make it in life.

In an interview with BEATWAVES, Racheal Tutu, the Head of Office & Marketing at Backstage, said the event, among other things, was also aimed at creating awareness about the activities of Backstage.

She explained that Backstage Productions also engages in film/documentary productions, artistes’ management, advertising of products, public relations for especially cultural practices and activities among others.

There were acrobatic displays as well as performances by Slim Busterr and R2bees.
