Elivava shares stage with Danish saxophonist, Katrine Suwalski

Billed as a special guest performer on Denmark-Danish saxophone player and composer, Katrine Suwalski’s tour events in Ghana; Ghanaian Afro-Jazz/ Afro-Pop singer, Elivava has indicated, “it is a great pleasure sharing stage with the legendary saxophonist, Katrine Suwalski and her Danish/Ghanaian band, Another World.”

“She is an amazing composer and I enjoyed every bit of the band's zeal during my performances since the tour started on April 1, 2015,” she said in an interview with AmaLarbieAfrica.

"The entire Another World band is amazing and great people to work with," she added.

Born Tina Mensah, Elivava, The African Gold is a Ghanaian Afro-Jazz, and Afro-Pop singer, songwriter, performer, choreographer, and recording artiste who has worked with top musicians like Rocky Dawuni, Salif Keita, Kojo Antwi, Afro Moses, Samini, VIP (now VVIP) and Atongo as background singer and Choreographer.

According to a press statement, the Denmark-Danish saxophonist and composer, Katrine Suwalski and her Danish/Ghanaian band, Another World arrived in Ghana on Sunday, March 29, 2015 for the intended tour to rock the Jazz fraternity in Ghana.

Katrine Suwalski, who originally formed her band, Another World, after a trip to Ghana in 1994, shared her motivation: “I was introduced to the rich tradition of Ghanaian polyrhythm by the leader of the cultural group Twerammpon Traditionals in Cape Coast, Odomankoma Kyerema Pra."

“This meeting, strongly influenced my musical life and my playing; and over the years, Mr. Pra has worked with us several times in Denmark and around. Now I really look forward to play our music in Ghana for the first time,” she had noted in the statement.

The performers lined-up for the tour are headline act, Saxophonist and Composer, Katrine Suwalski (Denmark); Pianist Marie Schmidt (Denmark); Bassist Morten Lundsby (Denmark); and Ghanaian Percussionists Ayi Solomon and Odomankoma Kyerema Kwamena Pra; and Afro Jazz/ Afro-Pop singer, Elivava.

There has already been performances at the Republic Bar, Accra; Club +233, Accra; Piano Bar, Accra; Hotel Senchi, Akosombo on April 1-4, 2015 respectively.

Katrine Suwalski, her band Another World as well as Elivava are expected in Cape Coast at the Pedu Station and Elimna Shell including the Twerammpon Traditionals on April 5 and 6, 2015 respectively.

Katrine Suwalski and her Another World Band will be returning to Denmark on April 9, 2015.
