Eavesdropper's gossip prompts murder of husband

Kpando (V/R), June 17, GNA - A gossip of an eavesdropper about an extra-marital affair has led to the murder of Mr Kennedy Kofi Bam, 27, farmer of Aveme-Agbesia, near Kpando.

Mr Joy Afagbedzi, Inspector of Police in charge of Public Relations, Volta Region, told the Ghana News Agency that Police investigations revealed that the late Bam had confronted his wife (name not given) over an alleged extra-marital affair with one Paul Doglo, a fisherman, 39, also of Aveme-Agbesia.

He said unknown to the couple, one Enyonam Sepenu, who was eavesdropping, reported the confrontation to Doglo. Mr Afagbedzi said on May 3 2008, at about 0730 hours, Doglo, who had since been arrested over the murder, met Bam at a drinking spot and an argument ensued between them. They were, however, separated before it could develop into fisticuffs.

Inspector Afagbedzi said Doglo waylaid the late Bam, while he was on his way to his house, and stabbed him in the ribs. He said the late Bam's shouts for help attracted a neighbour, who helped to rush him to the Margaret Maquart Hospital in Kpando, where he died the following day.
