Driver and mate charged with stealing

Tema, Feb. 18, GNA- A driver and his mate who stole 800,000 CFA francs, belonging to a transport owner were on Wednesday granted 100 million cedis bail with surety each by Tema Circuit Court.

Musah Fuseini, the driver and Eliasu Ayuba, the mate pleaded not guilty to conspiracy and stealing and would reappear on February 24. Prosecuting, Police Inspector Teye Matey told the court presided over by Mr Stephen Teye, that on April 5, 2003, Ms Christy Botchwey, a transport owner, released her articulator truck loaded with louver blades to the accused to be sent to Burkina Faso.

He said after discharging the goods, Musah was given 800,000 CFA to be paid to the transport owner, adding he (Musah) gave the money to the mate for safekeeping.

On reaching Techiman on April 28, 2003, Musah and Ayuba allegedly shared the money and told the owner that amount had been stolen.
