David Oscar gets Kenya laughing

The host of Viasat 1’s ‘Laugh A Minute’, David Oscar Dogbe has returned home from a successful comedy show in the Kenyan city of Mombassa. David left the shores of Ghana last week at the invitation of M-Net’s Comedy Club series to perform in its first Kenyan episode.

Previous Comedy Club episodes were shot in Nigeria and South Africa and have only debuted in the East African country. The Show has featured comedians such as Julius Agwu, AY, Seyi Law, Mandy AKA ‘The Princess of Nigerian Comedy, Basket mouth, and Owen Jay among other seasoned Nigerian and international acts.

The 2011 first episode of Comedy Club Live in Mombasa featured Nigerian act Omo Baba and for the first time a Ghanaian comedian. Not only did he thrill the audience to some of his delightful repertoire of jokes and anecdotes, he was able to stake an impressive claim to a piece of the comedy cake.

In an interview with the show host, Fareed Khamani, David said, “After Comedy Club Live in Lagos and Comedy Club Live in Mombasa, I wouldn’t be surprised if M-net in the coming years decided to come over to Ghana and run the series Comedy Club Live in Accra”. He added that, “the myriad of talent in Ghana will make for exciting entertainment.”

The invitation is a clear indication of international recognition of Ghanaian Comedians. The episode of Comedy Club Live in Mobasa is set to air on January 4, 2011 on MNET.
