Cassette sellers call for stabilisation of prices

Kumasi, Oct. 9, GNA- The Ashanti regional branch of the Cassette Sellers Association has asked producers of music cassettes to negotiate with it for an acceptable selling prices of cassettes. Mr Kwaku Manu, Ashanti regional chairman of the association said members were against the arbitrary increases of prices of cassettes by some producers and artistes.

Mr Manu who was speaking at a meeting with members of the association said through the intervention of the association, some producers and artistes had agreed to reduce the wholesale prices of their products while negotiations were underway with others to do the same.

He said the aim of the association was to ensure price stabilisation in the music industry and warned members not to buy cassettes from producers and artistes who refused to negotiate with the association.

He said the association is against piracy in the music industry and advised members to refrain from pirating original works for sale. Mr Asante Adusei, vice-chairman of the association, accused the FM stations for their involvement in music piracy in the country.
