HON. CARRION IN CULTURAL FESTIVAL

BRONX, NY -- The chief of Asanteman Association of USA, Daasebre Anane Amponsah, saying ?diversity is the basis of understanding one?s culture,? today announced commemoration of ?Ashanti Day? - a cultural festival on September 3, 2005 from 2pm to 5pm at the Bronx Supreme Court House Steps of 851 Grand Concourse, Bronx, NY 10451 off East 161st Street.

Bronx will be the focus of attention to highlight the culture of Asante, the kingdom of Gold and Ghana as whole through Ashanti Day celebration - A rare opportunity that brings thousands of Ghanaians together.

Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion will be honored with the rich Kente cloth and Gold-lace traditional African sandals. The occasion will also highlight the contributions of Ghanaians in New York area.

Taking cognizance of the Ghanaian community being among the largest foreign nationals living in the Bronx and the need to deepen understanding of various cultures has compelled Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion to foster great relationships with the Ghanaian community by means of:

? Heading an official delegation to visit Ghana in 2006.

? Instituting Student Exchange Program among Ghana University students and Bronx college students.

? Providing assistance in generating funds to procure ?Africa House? that will serve as a meeting place for Ghanaian associations.
