Akosua Serwaa Crowned Miss Ghana New York

The search for Miss Ghana New York 2003 came to a climax last weekend at the Lovinger Theatre at 250 Bedford Park, BW West Bronx, in faraway New York.

Miss Akosua Serwaa Adu-Gyemah, 23, a graduate of the Buffalo University in New York emerged the ultimate winner.

The programme, organised by Big Apple Sounds and Promotions in New York offered $1000 spending money plus a ticket to Ghana to the winner who will lodge at the Golden Tulip Hotel and be Chaufeur-driven on arrival in Accra. The first runner-up took $700 plus a television set while the second runner-up received $500 and a stereo sound system.

The contestants were taken through swimwear, question time, talent night and as usual the night wear contests. Miss Ghana New York 2003, will visit a mentally-retarded home when she visits Ghana and donate 10 percent of the gate proceeds to the home.

Ghana’s top hiplife artistes, Kontihene, Nana Quame and Obrafo did incredibly well and thrilled the New York fans, while Adom FM’s Abeiku Santana, who was the MC for the night, was very exciting.

Miss Ghana New York 2003 is sponsored by Golden Tulip Hotel, Goldlink Tours, Sleek, Ghana Review International Magazine, McAshley Driving School and Click Sounds.
