NDC Constituency Chairman defects to NPP

Trede (Ash), Nov. 30, GNA - About 60 card bearing National Democratic Congress (NDC) members in the Atwima-Kwanwoma Constituency led by the Constituency Chairman, Mr Anthony Kwame Kyem have defected to the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Other Executive Members among the defectors were Alhaji Ampofo, Zonal Organizer and Yaw Asua, Zonal Secretary.

The defectors were introduced to the supporters of the NPP at a rally to launch the Party's campaign in the Constituency. Welcoming the defectors, Mr Antwi Boasiako, the Constituency Secretary of NPP, commended them for their courage to join the NPP. Mr Kyem, who was the spokesman for the defectors, declared: "We have now seen the light shinning over the country. We have also seen the peace and freedom prevailing in the country and these are enough evidence of what President Kufuor and the NPP can do for this country." He, therefore, called on NDC supporters, who wanted to defect not to feel shy but come out boldly and join the NPP and vote massively for the Party come December 7.

Dr Mathew Antwi, Deputy Minister of Environment and Science, who is also the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the Constituency, cautioned the supporters against 'skirt and blouse' voting, saying, that would weaken the hand of the President John Agyekum Kufuor should he win.

He said the Government had laid a solid foundation for accelerated economic development and called for massive support for the Party in both the Presidential and Parliamentary Elections.
