I will not withdraw - Independent Prez Aspirant

Kumasi, May 16, GNA - Mr Owusu Ankomah, the independent presidential aspirant has assured his supporters and admirers that he will not withdraw from the December presidential elections this time round.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Kumasi on Sunday, he said his withdrawal from the 2000 elections was due to the unfair deal meted out to him by the Electoral Commission (EC). He did not elaborate but said the behaviour of the EC made it difficult for him to contest in 2000. He said he was appalled by the poor performance of the previous administration and so he tactically gave way to other to the opposition at the time to change things.
"Sadly enough the New Patriotic Party (NPP), which won the elections in 2000, has not performed as was anticipated," he said, adding that this formed his motivation to run the race this year. Mr Ankomah described as erroneous the assumption by other presidential aspirants that information technology was the answer to the country's problems.
"Can computers solve the language, marriage and other social problems of the country?" he queried and said it was wrong for anybody to assume that computers were the answers to the nation's woes.
