Mahama must not conduct 'unwise reshuffle'

Political Scientist, Kwasi Amakye says it will be an indictment on the NDC government if President Mahama reshuffles his cabinet five months to elections.

There have been suggestions to the new President to reshuffle cabinet to stamp his authority and send an indication that he is in charge.

But Kwesi Amakye of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) says government must maintain the current administration to send a signal that it has not failed.

“The implication is that new one’s that will come in will have to start from the scratch. So in developing countries cabinet reshuffle is not desirable”.

Mr. Amakye said it will be unwise for government to reshuffle cabinet just five months to the general elections.

Why would he change somebody, what is wrong with the incumbent minister and what the person coming to do given this short period of time? Mr. Amakye asked.**
