Pan African movement acclaims electoral victory of President Atta Mills

Accra, Jan. 13, GNA- The All-African People's Organisation (AAPO), a Pan-African mass movement on Tuesday, commended President John Evans Atta-Mills for his electoral victory and expressed the hope that he would pursue the course of Pan Africanism.

"It is our fervent hope that your administration, will be Pan Africanist inclined, in order to pursue the goals and dreams espoused by the great Osagyego Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and help solve the perennial problems facing Africa."

A press statement issued in Accra, by Mr Amusu Kwaggrey, Founder and Co- ordinator-General of APPO in Accra, appealed to President Atta Mills to set up progressive and dynamic Pan African programmes of action to banish poverty, hunger, diseases, ignorance and malfeasance on the continent.

The statement expressed the commitment of the organisation to work closely with the ruling National Democratic Congress, in achieving the best for Ghana and Africa. "We pray to the Almighty God to give you (Atta Mills), abundant wisdom, courage, tenacity and good health in squaring up the challenges and excel in office." AAPO congratulated Ghana for showing the way for peace, security, good governance, growth and prosperity in Africa by the manner the country conducted the presidential and parliamentary elections, in December, 2008.
