Asante-Akim South CPP parliamentary candidate endorses Nana Akufo-Addo

Juaso (Ash), Dec 23, GNA - Mr Ebenezer Quao, Convention People's Party (CPP) parliamentary candidate for Asante-Akim South in the December 7, has declared his support for the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He has, therefore, urged his supporters to vote for the NPP in the December 28 Presidential Election Runoff.

Mr Quao made the declaration at a press conference at Juaso on Monday.

Flanked by Mr Seth Quao, the Constituency CPP Secretary, and his Campaign Manager, Mr Kwame Antwi, he said his decision to support Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's bid of becoming the next President was not influenced by anyone and that he took the decision on his own volition. He observed that since the National Executives of the CPP had taken a neutral stand as to which of the parties to support in the Runoff, it was his duty to assist his supporters to choose the candidate to vote for.

Mr Quao, who polled 1,063 votes representing 2.74 per cent in the parliamentary election, emphasised that he had not defected to the NPP, adding that he was only supporting the NPP's bid to win the election. Mrs Gifty Ohene-Konadu, the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), welcomed the move and expressed the hope that the partnership between the two parties would enhance the chances of the NPP. 23 Dec. 08
