Atta Mills to join protest against GT sale

Accra, Aug. 11, GNA - NDC leader and presidential candidate, Professor John Evans Atta Mills, will join the Committee for Joint Action, Concerned Ghanaians, and other progressive groups that will be protesting at the forecourt of Parliament House on Tuesday in the matter of the sale of 70 per cent sale of Ghana Telecom (GT) to Vodafone. The NDC leader is therefore urging all NDC members as well as well-meaning Ghanaians to be part of the protest to implore our lawmakers, who are the representatives of the people, not to support the NPP government in its desperate bid to sell GT.

This is contained in a statement signed by Mr. Koku Anyidoho, Head of Communications of the Mills Campaign.

"Professor Atta Mills wishes to put it on record that, if the NPP muscles its way through and sells-off GT under terms that don't sit well with the norms of openness and transparency, as President, he shall ensure that the sale is reversed and persons found culpable of short-changing Ghanaians, shall face the full rigours of the law." Parliament is reconvening on Tuesday to debate the sale and vote on the agreement that has been criticised for its lack of transparency and package.
