Atta Mills consoles china

Accra, May 21, GNA - The leader and Presidential Flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor John Evans Atta Mills, has consoled the people of China following the devastating earthquake that has claimed tens of thousands of people.

Signing a Book of Condolence at the Chinese Embassy in Accra, Prof. Atta Mills, on behalf of the Founder, Council of Elders, party leadership and members of the NDC, expressed his heartfelt sympathies to the people of Republic of China.

"Our hearts and minds are with the people of China in this moment of grief and my prayer is that the souls of the departed rest in perfect peace," Prof. Mills wrote, according to a statement from his campaign Office.

In view of the money and effort that has been invested in hosting the Olympic Games, the NDC leader, speaking to the Chinese Ambassador Mr Yu Wenzhe, after signing the Book of Condolence, said he was hopeful that the strong spirit of the people of China would keep them together to host a successful Olympics. Mr. Yu thanked the NDC leader for his show of sympathy for the Chinese people and assured him that it would forever be appreciated. He also thanked the people of Ghana for their show of sympathy in these trying times for the people of China and wished Professor Mills all the best in his endeavours.
