Increasingly higher number of our folks are losing the moral edge of being socially accountable. They prefer easy money without any regard to the consequences of their actions leading to that.
Unfortunately, our Governments have been incessantly corrupt and distant from the real needs of the People and the Nation. So, we are left with such insensitive criminal behaviors drowning the innocent ones.
We do have Laws prohibiting such use of toxic chemicals in our rivers and streams. We have Laws that ban any pollution of the environment. Yet, no one gets punished for committing any breach against those Laws. It isn't long ago that we learnt some Bakers were using Formaldehyde as an additive or ingredient to their Bread. We did not hear anything else beyond the initial discovery of that crime. And I would not be surprised to learn that no one was ever held legally accountable for that, as much as People's lives were practically endangered by that behavior.
People don't seem to care much about the Police anymore. They have grown to learn the Police and the Judiciary are so corrupt that all it takes is flashing a few bucks or chicken and Yams in front of them and you are free to go to continue your illegal behavior.
Haven't some gotten away with even murders in recent times? Thanks to our corrupt Courts. Look at how a whole Captain of the Military got lynched by a frustrated mob which wrongly mistook him for an armed robber! This proves how the Public has no more confidence in our Law Enforcement apparatus, and would rather irrationally take the Law into its own hands.
We have a huge problem that is fast sinking our general security into a chasm of doom. If people don't stand up to demand that all our rights are being fully honored in our corridors of governance, we would only be electing fools to the Parliament whose only goals would be fattening their private accounts with involuntary Public largesse like the unmitigated unprosecuted corruption and excess Ex-Gratia for themselves.
It is not enough to just hold a peaceful Election to claim the presence of Democracy. It is how well our Institutions work that determines, in large part, whether or not we have real functioning Democracy.
If we cannot have those Institutions serve us well, we should as well concede in resignation that we have sold our souls to the devil.

The chief should rather curse the politician who travel to China and bring their trawlers to distroye our fishstock.Ask him when the fishermen were getting bumper catch how many trawlers are working in our small ocean?Now we have over 140 trawlers working 24/7 in our Ghanaian - ocean.Who gave them the license to operate in Ghana?Not this same politicians,ndc and npp.The chief should no better before cursing his own fishermen.The trawlers by-catch aloan they throw back into our ocean each day amount to hundreds of tonnes.
Which of these fish species will his people catch?The tonnes of fish which they throw back has extinct our fishes from our ocean to Togo and Benin because fishes don't have boundaries.Our politician are killing the fishing industry not the fishermen.The Ghanaian fishers are always struggling for their daily bread.
Before all the four regions along our coastal belt can enjoy their fishing business like before the chinese trawlers MUST go like what the Senegalese did.Thanks
