Native, local seeds are the best starting point for any farmer, not only in Ghana. Do not let big foreign companies establish a monopol on seeds, which are not suitable for local conditions. This would be self-destruction! In order to meet future climate challenges as droughts and heavy rains, local plants from different regions can secure the diversity, which is necessary to find adaptable phenotypes. Listen to the peasant farmers - they know out from experience what is good for them - big seed companies like Monsanto claim that they know, but are only interested in profit, not in sustainable agriculture!Europe has lost 75% of their vegetable variaties due to short-sighted seed laws favoring the big international seed companies. Do not make the same mistake!
