Yet more rhetoric from another "Dr" who has not got the faintest of what he is talking about. No country feeds its self on subsistence farming and no amount of money can turn our subsistence farmers, mainly old people, into large scale commercial farmers. What is required is farming on a very large scale with investments in hundreds of millions where road infrastructure can be built to the farm, accommodation, facilities etc for the farm workers can be built. Are there a business men in Ghana with both the capital and expertise to go into large scale commercial farms of minimum 10000 hectares? Answer is no. We need to attract foreign investors preferably, Chine, where there is both capital and expertise to farm up to 200,000 hectares of basic staples Locke rice, corn, yam etc. Our current farmers can never feed us in a million years. They are old subsistenance farmers many of whom farm a maximum of 2 acres for their basic needs and sell small surpluses by carrying farm loads and walking some distance to the road side for commercial vehicles. Road infrastructure to the farming areas are terrible and commercial vehicles will not go to certain farming areas because of the nature of the roads. No, the answer is not to talk and talk about building the roads because it just does not happen. Yet more and more so called ministers or experts rattle on about investing in agriculture, blah, blah blah.
