This publication of Daily Guide is obviously politically motivated and meant to give Dr. Bawumiah a certain political leverage in the rundown to the 2016 election. Let it be made clear here however, that the comments of Dr. Chambas were made essentially from the point of view of academia and not for any purpose of political obscurantism. Additionally, the said book was co-authored by Dr. Bawumiah and another person and so it will be unfair for Daily Guide to skew whatever praises that it see being made by Dr. Chambas for same to be heaped on Dr. Bawumiah.
yes it could be a very good book; but let it remain as such and cut off these unnecessary politicization of the said book.

All those nursing presidential ambition in the NPP party should sharpen their credentials further to prove to the party faithful and Ghanaians that they deserve to be presidents. Bawumia, whether nursing a presidential ambition or not, is one of the best choices NPP leadership has made, and that will go a long way to serving Ghana and the party years after he has left the scene.
To be elected as a presidential candidate of the party, NPP will never accept the Orwellian undemocratic communist system in which one candidate is imposed on the party as it is being done in the NDC. It will always be based on democratic survival of the fitters, in the same way that Obama won his party's nomination in 2008.

Ghana is paying six times its total oil revenue as interest on the country’s total public debt stock; that’s the computation done by former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
“We’ll reach GHC99billion by the end of this year,” the Running Mate to the Flagbearer of the biggest opposition Party said in a post-budget presentation interview with Richard Sky of Citi FM.
“The interest on this debt alone is going to be six times Ghana’s oil revenue,” Dr Bawumia said.
“When we found oil, we were happy that we found oil, but the borrowing of this Government has compromised the whole oil discovery; you need six times our oil revenue just to pay interest on the debt, not even capital, so, it is a really sad development,” he complained.

AUTHOR : SULE ---------------In the 8 years that the Kufuor administration was in power, the country went HIPC and the NPP gov't put in place the needed policies and programs as well as pragmatic social intervention programs, and they made it clear that, they were not going to deal with these Bretton woods institutions. The economy grew and as at the time the Kufuor gov't was leaving power in 2008, Ghana was rated as a lower middle income economy.
In comes the dimwitted NDC gov't, and the results are there for all to see. During the administration of Kufuor, the Bretton woods institutions were there, but they had to beg to get Kufuor's gov't to listen to them and what they had on offer.
The current situation is just like the 80's and 90's when we had the PNDC and NDC gov'ts.
It is an undisputable fact that, the P(NDC) gov't does not have the mental capacity, acuity and the requisite brain power as well as the drive to achieve anything. They are simply inept and grossly incompetent and this is an undisputable fact. Governance is a serious business not for dimwits and the earlier, we all came to terms with this basic fact, the better it would be for our socio-economic developmental agenda.

Did Dr. Bawumia not read economic books while in school and what happened to the book knowledge he and others acquired? Does anyone of the yahoo's out here think all of those pompous PhD holders in Ghana dug their credentials from some cracker jack boxes?
It is only ignorant people who jump for joy over things like the publication of books by Ghana's political wannabe without a clue about why we fail in Ghana. Can anyone including Dr. Bawumia point to structures put down in place at government institutions as best practices and procedures for government institutions with jurisdiction? What are the markers Dr. Bawumia leave behind as a legacy for those who came after he left BoG? Do we not have lecturers at our universities who churn out students into the world year after year and what happened to all the wonderful classroom knowledge? Do graduated students not read books or is all of Ghana waiting for the Bawumia book to become astute in political economics and development?
I challenge Ghanaians to read books by Dr. Elizabeth Asiedu and they will know there is nothing Dr. Bawumia is going to say that has not been written by a Ghanaian economist before. Politicians could care less about books but their pockets and that is the bottom line. You see all of Ghana, especially those in the NPP forget to understand that it would have been smart for Nana Akufo-Addo and his henchmen including Dr. Bawumia to have said they took Party funds to open a secret bank account in the hopes of showing the NPP party and Ghanaians at large how good leadership could be achieved under the Akufo-Addo and Bawumia ticket within the bigger government machine. Instead the stolen money was used as a slush fund. Tell me if this is not the current and ongoing practices of politicians? Hopefully Dr. Bawumia's book had a chapter on what not to do with slush funds of people's money.
