Why can't the party also open its leadership contests to all its members freely and democratically to allow natural leaders emerge without the usual dubious tricks in the party?
I blame the NDC stomach politicians for failing to stand up for democracy in this country by demanding that the long standing undemocratic culture in their party be scrapped, when Mr. Martin Amidu raised the alarm three years ago. That was the time when Mr. Mahama secretly and hurriedly declared himself flag bearer of the party immediately after the death of President Mills to eliminate potential competitors. He then organized big parties at stadiums for sycophant members of the party to rubber-stamp his decision so as to impose himself on Ghanaians fraudulently.

It was Akufo Addo's incompetence that led to the acid bombing and murder of their own regional chairman. All the key members of the NPP who showed disagreement with Akufo Addo in any area are relegated into the margins. They contantly denigrate whole ethnic groupings totally oblivious of the fact that some of such ethnic members are in their own party. They claim they are the experts in the laws of Ghana yet they call Ghanaians who hold dual citizenship as aliens even though such people have valid votes. Were former President Kufuor divisive like that, he could not have won the 2000 and 2004 elections.
Akufo Addo-led NPP is clearly a confused party. After the 2012 election in which he lost, he incited his gullible supporters to think that he was cheated. First, they said their votes were reduced and added to Mahama's. But when they went to court, they demanded that, over 3 million votes cast in the areas won by President Mahama, should be cancelled to make Akufo Addo win.When the SC rejected their petition, they claimed it was because they the Justices had been bribed. Thus they unashamedly kept calling the popularly elected President election thief. As if that is not enough, now they are making yet another claim about the 2012 election to negate all that they had done without shame.
Now they are saying Mahama won but this was because aliens fromTogo, Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast came to vote for President Mahama. They are therefore demanding that a new voters register should be compiled to include only pure blooded Ghanaians and no aliens. To ensure that this is done, they are sending delegations to various foreign countries for their presidents to put pressure on our president so that a new voters register can be compiled. Clearly NPP has lost bearing.
All this while, they have no message for the electorates about how different they will be doing government business. Instead they are using all their energy fighting among themselves and whinning about the long gone 2012 election when 2016 is just around the corner.
On the contrary, Candidate Mahama is taking Ghana through unprecedented springing of development - new roads and repair of old ones with the mushrooming of fly-overs; new schools and upgrading of old ones; new hospitals and the upgrading of old ones; building of modern markets; massive expansion of pipe-borne water supplies; expansion of energy capacity; all these and more across the country. By 2016, President Mahama will be unsurpassed by any Ghanaian President in bringing infrastructural development to Ghana. 2016 will be an easy victory for President Mahama.
