It is very difficult to understand why government is reluctant to support any local industry to grow. Sometimes you hear government citing WTO rules to defend themselves why it could not help its own people. Why apply 17.5% Vat to domestic airlines when road transport is excluded? Which is a more efficient mode of travel than air travel? Has the government considered the time, risk, cost of fuel spent on the road compared to travelling by air before imposing this tax? Domestic Airlines are just developing in Ghana and any forward- looking government would have supported them with tax breaks and other incentives to build them up not more taxes and high fuel costs.

They need external cash to stay in operation and that cash can come from the international route which the Ghana civil aviation is preventing them to run. They have sit them down and tell them the truth.
