No traditional area should "release" land to the politricksters in power> Let the traditional areas LEASE the land for say 50 years. Government will then pay annually for the market rate lease of the land. At the end of 50 years, whoever is in power will have to negotiate another lease. They own what the put on the land but not the land itself! So, hey, let them give what's on the land to their wives, girlfriends, concubines, hos - no problem. The land will still belong to the people of the traditional area, as it always has!
What does Obuasi have to show for Ashanti Goldfields? Dust, toxic dust, disease and decades of poverty. But now the land is owned by the bloody South African xenophobes (apartheid with an African face). Never again!

Yes!! Mr. President, this is a mighty call to all the stake holders involve, the land lords and the chiefs. Even-though the later in the northern region has no hands in land issues, but they should be made aware of the President call. The chiefs clan is considered as late-comers yet in todays politics the chiefs want to post themselves as land lords in Upper West. Some of these chiefs have to be call to order in the region.
Takpo is under the Nadwoli district and about twelve miles away from Wa the capital for Upper West. Alex Naa is the current chief for this great historical village. He had been in-stooled nearly 30 years today, and he finally got the paramount chieftainship title last month. The title he carries now after 30 years on the stool is Na Wiedaana #2.
Interesting enough, the people of Takpo want to know why the long awaited title had alluded him all these years. Many other chiefs who came later were awarded with the paramount chieftainship position before him. Its wildly known for his enigmatic language which fly around the circle of Mr know it all. "Takpo Na might be educated, but ignorant when it comes to chieftainship affairs". This was said by Kaleo Na Banaawmini before he met his death.
Takpo had a newly created Senior High School which is currently using the middle school grounds. The Tendaaba donated about 60 acreage of land for the school to be built. He(Takpo Na) went with the Tendaabas for the demarcation process of this land. After that he sat with and discussed the documents formulation with the land lords. When this document was sent to him for the last signatory, he vehemently refused to sign and said the donors(Kungbenyirie) are not the land lords. Takpo Na disagreement is that they were Tendaabas but not in modern day Ghana. This, in a retrospective glance, is highly considered not a intelligent statement from a chief.
There is the green light for the buildings to start for the school but no land. Because of his unguarded and disdained tolerance. He brought many land disputes in the village and the third one is currently in court. He lost the other two in the court-room, yet he continuous his intimidation stare with legitimate land lords of Takpo which is Kungbenyiri where the shrine resides.
I gave two thousand dollars for a public library building, he went on dispute over the particular site that was chosen. The chief and his people (furivouri) meaning go and occupy this vagrant space lost the case in the court-room. They were what histories called late-comers my great-grand fathers gave them that portion of Takpo to occupy.
Consequently, the library never got built for the village because of his shenanigans. Zora Neale Hurston, said that "bitterness is the under-arm odor of wishful weakness". But Takpo Na egalitarian approach in the village had brought down a lot of developments. The devastating struggle will continue unabated with his new crown. There is dossier evidence to support my statement. Two sections( Nyori and Tambogu) were great fraternity people who buried each others dead. They don't even greet each other in public or attend each others funeral any more. This great village never saw this dis-unification. But we all sense tide and time in our life and from the sheeny looks of things, Takpo Na should resign or be impeached immediately to give way for development in the village.
I am calling on the Upper West House of chiefs to investigate Takpo Na immediately to bring some tranquility to the people of this great historical village Takpo. The writer is Balanoe Yemme the leader of Takpo Tendaaba.

What happened to all the lands released by traditional areas to the government of the first republic? They've all been stolen and owned now by private individuals not even from the area while the indigenes wallow in poverty! Rawlings steals Nsawam Cannery and Cocoa Processing Factory together with all the lands they are situated on and gives them to his wife. What did the people of Nsawam gain? Nothing! Most of the state-owned bungalows in Accra and other towns have been stolen. The Kufuor gang, as typified by Jake Obetsebi's example, was responsible for much of this nationwide thievery. Go to the Nzimaland and Sipa Yankey and other well-known thieves are the owners of the land used for the gas and oil infrastructure.
Chiefs be smart: DON'T RELEASE CRAP, LEASE IT!!!
Bulldung over and over again. Let the government LEASE land so that the owners are not deprived in the future.
