Not so much a lie as a deliberate withholding of key facts, amounting to a gross distortion of the truth.
As a supply/demand equilibrium point in the dollar/cedi market approaches, there WILL be a slowdown in the rate of depreciation. There are a limited number of zeroes on a calculator.
But the cedi is still falling. Rapidly. And measures taken by the BOG have only made the situation worse.
There is no empirical evidence that the cedi will ever be stable. Mr Amoah's job title belongs in a world of fantasy.

Some of us have been following the apparent decay of the cedi daily. The cumulative depreciation of the cedi has not slowed down a finto. Even the daily volatility has not changed. In fact it is getting worse. So, who was BOG's Benjamin Amoah speaking to? And the cumulative decline he talks about does not make any statistical or even algebraic sense. By the way, if the cedi declines by 20 pesewas per day, the percentage cumulative decline will get lower each day as the currency continues to decline. This is a simple mathematical logic that has nothing to do with the effectiveness of any BOG measures. It sounds like the NDC campaign in the villages that two cedis to a dollar is better than NPP's one to one because they get more cedis when their children send them money from abroad.
