Well Nana,
It comes to the same question as to who really controls our resources and our economy. You can bet your bottom dollar that the people who are the least paid are the guys who will be on their way out. The well-paid top executives from Europe and North America working in Ghana will keep their nice lucrative jobs and perks that are about 40-50 times that of these local workers. They can keep these local people in many other new innovative roles, as this is only temporary. It is not a long term slump in prices of gold.

When the price of gold shoots up,do they complain of too much profit?
Why don't they train Ghanaians, that have one of the cheapest labour force
in the world,to process the metal over here in Ghana?
They always train people in masonry, plumbing, electrician, welding, painting etc, whilst those artisans already abounds in Ghana.
GHANA'S LABOUR FORCE DOES THE MONKEY JOB,BUT THE REAL NEEDED JOB ON THE GOLD,IS DONE OUTSIDE GHANA.
I believe,God is finding a way to preserve our gold for us,therefore,in disguised, the lower world market price ,is in the end,to our favour.
WHO KNOWS?
If we do not take care very well to preserve our natural resources,by the time, our children might be proficient enough to have processed it to our advantage, all might be gone already.
We must stop our uncaring, unpatriotic, selfish, covetous attitudes, and think about the future of our dear children,so something/legacy worthwhile, would be left for them to entail.

Diversification of the mining industry
is needed.
Putting all our eggs into one risky basket of rising and falling price is our bane.

Come to Mauritania, the Government has stopped all companies with similar ambitions and all workers are doing their work.
If Bako is economically wise he should rather park trucks and diggers to minimize the consumption of consumables. The coast cutting start from there. Not until we all take up Guns and roses to fuck the fuck up Ghana will never be ours again.
