SKIPPEr, swimming costume doesn't save you from drowning. What you probably meant is a personal flotation device, for example, a life jacket. Such devices can save you, not swimming costume!

At one of the "Meet-Me-There" festivities years ago, we happened to be strolling along the edges of the shores at Labadi Pleasure Beach and occasionally dipping a foot here and there as we walked along.
At one point, there was a strong current that emerged, bent on sucking my foot away as I made a casual dip.
The pull was like an unseen force, physically dragging the foot inside the waters.
That was it for me ...... have not gone anywhere closer to any body of water.

Very sad and to us an untimely death.Here in the states it dosent matter eh ether the swimmer is wearing life jackets or not. The melting snow flowing from the mountains is below freezing which can cause hypothermia too bad ... read full comment

The melting snow flowing from the mountains is below freezing which can cause hypothermia too bad the swimmers do not realise how cold and rapid the water is moving although the temps have been over 108 The cold water sends the body into shock.
I live on California and every over day someone drowns due to water temps and the rushing flow of the water.
People are constantly warned but the trey continue refuse to take heed. Professional swimmers have lost their lives.
Just this am new a professional swimmer was swept downstream thank God there was a rock he was able to grab on to although he was pushed underwater several times. His female friend could not assist him but was able to call for help.
