Why don't you ask all the so-called Christian Ghanaians in America and so on to move to Israel or Rome or such? And if you don't know, America is a secular state.

Your dream of becoming an American citizen is bigger and better than being a Ghanaian i guess(that is realistic). You would have learned your lessons by now that the American system gives you the opportunity of even making options on your Nationalism and not necessarily base on your smart head!
Yet it takes brave heads (a few) to choose our motherland and make it great and strong. You are a decision of the American system.

American citizenship should not a mandatory end for many immigrants unless the one needs it to expedite immigration of family in country of origin. That is the only clear benefit.

I can understand the trouble you went through,Mr Mohammed. I have had the same dilemma for some years now, albeit in a completely different Country. In my case, I would be required to forgo my Ghanaian citizenship completely. And this scares the sh*t out of me. I can't imagine the scenario whereby I would have to apply for visa to visit Ghana.
I have put this consideration on hold until hopefully, one day the laws of this country where I live will allow people to take citizenship and keep being a Ghanaian citizen as well.
I want both :-).
I wish you the very best.

@simpa panyin nunoo m, u are telling ur fellow Ghanaian to seek greener pastures in Saud Arabia bcos he's a Muslim and that Islam originated from that part of the world. Why not advise him to come back home, for at least he's a Ghanaian first. Remember that no religion in this world originated from U.S. and so irrespective of once religion, one can live and work there. Even Saudi Arabia which is the headquarters of Islam, a lot of expatriates live and work there. Where to live and work is a matter of choice and not based on once religion. Let us promote peace with our comments and stop dividing ourselves along religious lines.

In as much as we decide to spend most of our life here,it's necessary for us to regularize our stay to avoid fear and adventures;and that means paying the price. They say you can come in but do not overstay or work while on visit, simple. If you flout these laws you become illigal in their country and the laws are ready to deal with you.You have an option to go home voluntarily or being forced out United States through deportation.Deportations most of the times are not enforced until some kind of illigal or criminal activities expose you.
You can change nationality and still be a happier Ghanaian.Once you don't hate and betray United States, the nation has no problem with your love for mother country, after all there are lots of Italians and Irish who practice their culture freely and contribute towards their nations building.

Every one who migrats to the US has a story.Ask doctors, Lawyers,Professors from any where. It is the same you start from bottom up. Some of these poeple have everything in their home countries but still they follow the american dream. Some get it others don't but america humbles you whoever you are. Ask why do most politicians and rich poeple bring their kids ro the US for education? Ask why facebook, whasapp and most innovation is from the US. The Ghanaian who does not know how the US works will rubbish your story because they have a few dollars and can shop at nostrums every summer Wait but what is the value of their 401k, how much life insurance do they have, do they have diasability and what kind of health insurance and hospitals do they have. If Ghanaians like their lifes in those houses in east legon and range rovers with no disability and a cedi that has no value fine Not all of them can even have the opportunity yo take a short at the american dream.Good job my brother.More stories like these and let poeple know there is life in yankey beyong hassling and cna.

So is this pursuit of American citizenship or living in the United States real or fantasy played out in real life? I have always wondered why people from all over the world, including Europe flock to that country. What does the US offer that our countries do not offer? If it is peace, is there any peace in the United States? Is it money, tell me how many African millionaires you know. Others make money but not Africans. Talk about work and think about how long you've had to contend with having to train people who come after you only for them to precede you in rank. Is it the money that keeps us glued to our substandard lifestyles and how much do we make?
Yes, you can go to court but is justice guaranteed you as an African?. So many things elude us as Africans in the United States. If you consider that there are more than 30 million people of African descent in that country who still have to fight for their rights after 400 years or so, is it not the time for Africans in the United States to reconsider coming home to join in making our countries better places than we left them? It is time to rethink as Africans.
We may not have what we had in the US but that thing that makes you squirm when it comes to taking the oath to become an American citizen will continue to gnaw at you even as you continue to live in that country.
There is no place like home, folks, even with the poverty and the underdevelopment and all.
Good for you, Mohammed!
