And I was like, does this man understand the value of wisdom/efie nyansa?
And how did African kingdoms and empires rise in the past without the white man's education.
DID OSEI TUTU WAIT FOR THE BRITISH TO TEACH HIM BEFORE HE DID WHAT HE DID WITH HIS COUNCIL OF WISE MEN?

If it is a fact that NKRUMAH's Docterate THESIS was rejected in Ameriica, DID HE GO BACK TO CHALLENGE or PROVE TO THE UNIVERSITY THAT THEY WERE WRONG IN REJECTING HIS THESIS?
NKRUMAH DID NOT COME DOWN TO DRINK TEA WITH THE COLONIAL MASTERS, WHILE THEY CONTINUE LOOTING HIS COUNTRY.
This is TOTALLY UNTRUE. The colonialists left Ghana huge sums of reserves and WHAT DID NKRUMAH DO WITH IT?
Nkrumah had inordinate ambition to become PRESIDENT OF AFRICA. As a result, he set up a FREEDOM FIGHTERS' TRAINING CAMP at OBENIMASE to destabilise other African Governments.
What did Nkrumah achieve? Did he not lose the PRESIDENCY OF GHANA in a military coup?
Did NKRUMAH remember the person who recommended him to the LEADERS of the UGCC? Did he not inprison him under the PREVENTIVE DETENTION ACT (PDA)?
In his latter days, NKRUMAH became a tyrant and did not care about human life.
Is this a type of independence we should remember and celebrate with pomp and pageantry?
When NKRUMAH saw the reserves he went crazy and being as poor as he was, NKRUMAH carelessly started disbursing the reserves without a plan.
NKRUMAH's behaviour is just like that of the current PRESIDENT MAHAMA and the scribe of NDC, ASIEDUAA NKETIAA who were POOR and CLUELESS at the time of taking office.
They knew how to corrupt and steal from the tax payers of Ghana.
I don't think Kweku Manful is aware of these facts I have put down.
NKRUMAH established many industries without making sure of raw materials to feed the industries.
The CPP NORTH AMERICA must keep quiet because they are living in GLASS HOUSE.

IS IT NOT PALPABLE STUPIDITY FOR ONE TO TALK ABOUT 30 MILE MOTORWAY? The best NKRUMAH could have done was to link up the Regional Capitals with FIRST CLASS ROAD NETWORK AS HITLER DID FOR THE GERMANS--THE AUTOBAHN ROADS.
NKRUMAH could not do it because he spent the money lavishly on his inordinate ambitions.
The SUPREME COURT BUILDING and the former PARLIAMENT HOUSE, both in Accra stand out boldly among all buildings around them. HOW LONG AGO WERE THEY BUILT?
Court Buildings constructed around the SUPREME COURT BUILDING are collapsing one after the other.
The buildings, including that of the secondary schools in Ghana, should have been better constructed to last, for in those days money was at our beg and call.

CPP must militantly confront the mendacity of the Danquah-Busia "tradition" which seeks to re-invent itself and detract attention from its stinking baggage of avaricious corruption, ineptitude, and dangerous submissiveness to foreign interests. We must fiercely contest both two corrupt parties - NDC and NPP - which equally serve the interests of neo-colonialism (globalization of capital) without difference, have sunk Ghana into de-industrialized backwardness and endanger the vestiges of our national independence and our political and economic sovereignty hard fought and won for us by CPP in the 50s and 60s.

For Christs sake this was a DEBATE and like he rightly said in his opening submission he was given a side which he had to defend anyways. In a DEBATE you could either be FOR or AGAINST the motion. Please next time do us a favor and tell us precisely what you think without insults and attacking people. I took the time to type out his opening statement just in case you didn't hear that part. Many Ghanaians are yet to learn how to argue intelligently to bring out the relevant points in every issue. We tend to let our emotions overtake us and blind us to the real, cogent facts of issues that would help us clear our way forward to greater heights.
I have always mentioned that it is about time we let the bitterness of the pre-Independent and early post-Independent animosities roll into the rear and concentrate on rebuilding Ghana with the best ideas we could muster from our late and pioneer Politicians like Nkrumah, J. B. Danquah, Busia and others.
No one would win a medal for showing how more saintly his or her partisan affiliation in those gone-by days was over the other. The only relevant and helpful thing for reaching back that far to scour our politicking in those days is to extract lessons that would guide us do much better now and in the future.
Those who hate Nkrumah for various reasons must be bold and honest enough to recognize his deeds and efforts to lead us out of the terrible impoverishment imperialism imposed on us. Those who hate Danquah must recognize his efforts to keep Nkrumah in line to safeguard our basic freedoms that would allow us to enjoy to the maximum what our respective familial ancestors left us. Those who hate Busia must not forget his onerous determination to instill social responsibility and real Democracy among us.
In their efforts to achieve more for us, these leaders, like in any human endeavor, clashed in ideas over how to get things done. So, they competed aggressively among themselves and unfortunately lost sight of the need to maintain peace among them. Human frailty. Errors were made by all of them.
Now, they are long gone and we the living owe it to them to prove we can carry on in much healthier setting of political interactions that would prevent us from repeating their mistakes.
So, folks must simply insult others for elucidating Nkrumah's achievements which cannot be pushed under the table. If any is touting Danquah or Busia for what has been established as their contributions, others must insult these folks for showing us what we could learn from the late leaders.
Regarding what any of the late leaders did to each other, we could only go by what was recorded by then all over the World by those who had access to the events and stories first-hand, and that includes some of us who were alive and old enough then to know things first-hand.
Families and loved ones of the late leaders would always display unconditional alliance to them, and even be more easily driven by their emotions to protect their names. But even in that case, the most helpful and sensible thing to do is to try to diffuse those emotions rather than escalate them by antagonizing the living supporters, family members and friends of the opposing sides.
Let's stick to the facts that matter. That is what Ghana needs. Not deliberate distortions to enhance the images of the late leaders. Not deliberate distortions to further tarnish the images of the late leaders, either.
Long Live Ghana!!!

In addition, I am concerned seriously that to stay relevant, Amoako Baah has been and remains a dangerous agent of anti-Nkrumah and anti-CPP "political socialization" of the Ghanaian youth directed to discount relevance of the 10 years of the most significant social revolution in Africa, organized and led by Kwame Nkrumah, culminating in political independence for the chiefs and people of the Gold Coast. The more apologists and propagandists like Amoako Baah remain on the dole of public institutions, the greater the need for the rest of us to bring them down to reality.

Hello Dear Kweku Manful of CPPNA, I cannot commend you enough of your rebuttal of that of Dr. Amoako-Baah. I was in Ghana when I read his senseless piece. I was so sad. I don't think Amoako-Baah was born when Kwame Nkrumah was fighting to redeem Ghana from these white thieves. All the Ma Te Meho people and their descendants are of the same dwarf mindset. Selfish, Selfish, Selfish and inward thinking people. I remember as a youngster how we were subjected to terror by these so called Asante/Akim people. I am always sick to my stomach when I hear them talk lies about Nkrumah. Nkrumah used our cocoa proceeds to educate them and yet they do not thank him. Shame on them.

Ghana's woes at the present time has it's origin from Nkrumah and his CPP. While Felix Houphet Boigney of Ivory Coast was sending his countrymen to American and Western Universities to study economics and finance and the free market system, Nkrumah and his CPP were sending Ghanaians to Communist Soviet Union and its Satellites to learn Marxism and marxist propaganda. The result is we have loud mouth so-called socialists who have found safe havens at Legon and UCC spewing nonsense. The current NDC is 90% CPP, and we all know what they are doing to Ghana.
Compare to what Ouattara is doing in Ivory Coast. If Ghana went through the civil war and destruction Ivory Coast went through, the country would have been worse than a basket case, it would have been worse than Somalia, with the current brand of Politicians looting whatever comes their way.

Akufo-Addo and Kufuor did not study in the East and have had their chances to transform the Nation. But for cronyism, criminal politicians went free under their tenure, and vital national economic assets were sold off for cheap to the detriment of the Nation, causing us lose without the multiplier effect being allowed to work to compensate any such loot.
After some 50 years on after Nkrumah's exit those Western trained Ghanaians have had all the opportunities to turn Ghana around. Why haven't they succeeded?
Why don't you admit that Graduates from the Eastern bloc were virtually blocked from partaking in the development of the country after the overthrow of Nkrumah. Yet, many of them were successful in numerous Institutions, like the Doctors serving in our Hospitals. How did such contribute to Ghana's failure? Besides, those students who went to the East almost all went under full Scholarship from those Countries, not with Ghana's sponsorship.
What really caused our failure is the rush-to-riches corruption that the so-called 'our property-owning' democracy brought us. Be honest!
In fact, Ghana never had any governmental restraint on our freedom to acquire wealth and the only way I could see the oxymoronic so-called 'property-owning' Democracy operating is encouraging illicit, frantic pursue of Wealth without scruples, which contributed to the rejuvenation of Corruption with a vengeance.
Long Live Ghana!!!

If Professor Amoako-Baah and his cohorts who are suddenly finding their voice to impact our Political thinking care to contribute anything constructive to Ghana's forward match, they should stick to facts that matter most, and not simply engage in the exercise of dumping all our blames on Nkrumah because they belong to the political polarity of his Opposition.
I am yet to hear Professor Amoako-Baah fully and exhaustively compare and contrast, say, the trajectories of Ghana and Singapore, as they always choose to do, based on the fundamental factors that shaped the statuses of the countries as they seem today.
It is not enough to just regurgitate the anti-Nkrumahist, CIA-induced propagandist mantra that conveniently only show the symptomatic manifestations which many lazy scholars in the past have always dwelt upon to point out the current differences.
What I have noticed about analyses of many of those pseud-experts on how Ghana and Singapore widely diverged in development is that they would always cite GDP trends and obvious differences in developmental achievements. But they shy away from boldly confronting the real issues that caused Ghana's failure and Singapore's success.
For instance, in listening to the-just-deceased, honorable late President of Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew's interviews on how he pulled the success of Singapore, we hear him make one significant input that our dubious Economists and their Western collaborators steer away from. And that is: he sought first to instill discipline in his Society, disallowing any distractions by the others so that he could focus on accomplishing his goals for the country.
When Lee was questioned on whether he cared about his opposition crying about his dictatorship, he replied to the effect that it is rather his achievement in making the Singaporeans wealthy and the Nation successful, standing taller in GDP than every other Nation in the World, that was more important. He asked rhetorically if those crying about Democracy would exchange their current general well-being for Democracy in poverty.
Many scholars, especially, in the West, have tried to extract the dictatorial attribute of Lee's from the repertoire of factors that helped him succeed. But, ironically, he himself conceded to the usefulness of that high-handedness of governance in getting done most of the things he set his eyes on.
I would like to emphasize that it is not that I am recommending any dictatorship as a requisite for any Country's success. But I am suggesting that Nkrumah's dictatorship was not necessarily why Ghana failed to do well, economically. While, dictatorship may not have to be a required condition for any developing Country to achieve success, that alone must not always be hurriedly blamed for a country's failure. This is because, we see Taiwan and Malaysia and even the Ivory Coast,a and now China, make significant Economic achievements under their dictatorships as well.
What that, in essence, strongly suggests is the importance of a certain high level of discipline and stability that most Nations have to enjoy in order to achieve whatever Economic policies or goals it has set. That also means no significance success is possible in a Nation if it is pestered constantly with political distractions as Nkrumah endured.
Secondly, Lee had, among the pillars that held up his successful governance, the suppression of Corruption in the Society as a monumental key that prevented leakages from Singapore's Economic System. Corruption was formally established as an intolerable crime that was swiftly punishable with hefty penalties, and that made Singapore a very healthy destination for good business and fairness in competition, too. Another pillar was the universally free and best quality Education for all. Lee, like Nkrumah, saw the need to prepare the natives of Singapore to rise up and take charge of most of their affairs in the most proficient manner. Therefore, Foreign investors and Companies that were allowed into Singapore to operate were legally tied to helping educate the employees to take management positions and not just remain on the floor level. Singapore's Education was designed to meet the needs of the high Tech Companies that were invited to operate in the Country. Technology had been identified as a fitting niche that the Country could specialize in to enjoy unique economic advantage in its sub-region.
Many would fault the Socialist leanings of Nkrumah for any hiccups in the developmental pace. But how does China's ultra-Socialist System then explain its current mercurial success? I see the current Economic environment in China as not much different from Nkrumah's Ghana, even after he announced his preference for Socialism.
Under his Socialism, Nkrumah did not institute any significant measures to stifle foreign investments for most part of his reign. Any attempts to take over any foreign businesses occurred at the tail-end of his reign and in response to what had been established by the Judiciary as inimical, illicit activities by those businesses targeted. It was not like all foreign businesses were restrained to operate profitably. Nevertheless, at the time, it was easy to scare potential businesses away by just claiming to be a Socialist Country.
In fact, that is exactly what the West chose to harp on to keep their Businesses from Ghana and elsewhere that they wanted to undermine.
More, Nkrumah did not suddenly
abrogate trade with the West and Capitalist systems. While he was touting Socialist programs, he did nothing to stop private entrepreneurs from operating their businesses in Ghana.
The closest Nkrumah got to imposing any strict Socialist clamping on property acquisition was when he initiated the controversial 'one-man, one-car' policies. But every honest analyst would learn that those policies emanated from Nkrumah's zeal to curb Corruption which had begun making inroads into his Administration. So, the 'One-man, One-car' policies were aimed at the Government Officials who were getting increasingly corrupt and acquiring more wealth than their means could support.
Hardly anyone in the ordinary Public was chased to forego his or her hard-earned multiple means of transport or multiple ownership of homes and other properties. For example, many private Transportation business folks run their many vehicles without any harassment. If there were any isolated incidents of such harassment, it surely could have been some rogue Official seeking a private vengeance or taunting on his or her perceived foe. That did not amount to a national trend of government sanctioned behavior by Officials.
We also have to understand where we were coming from at Independence that was fundamentally different from Singapore's. We demanded our Independence that was only reluctantly given us. That came with some animosity from our overlords, who reasonably but begrudgingly approved. Singapore was pushed out of its natural integration with Malaya. She was left to fend for herself without much of any immediate sources of revenue. It had, and still does have, no significant natural resources to sell for revenue. However, she had location advantage that Lee Kuan Yew saw to make the most of. Her geographical position was attractive to the West to inject itself in for closer surveillance on China, and greater economic interactions with the far East Mainland. The West presented facilitation for Singapore's growth. Nkrumah's Ghana was not that lucky. Ghana suffered incessant dubious sabotage directly and indirectly under Nkrumah from the West, adding to her local political distractions.
So, if it must be fairly admitted that had the West not interfered with Nkrumah's progress, politically and economically, he could have achieved impressive successes close to what Singapore achieved in the same amount of time or even less.
We have to bear in mind that the failure of Nkrumah's post-Independence Ghana was a secret desire of the antagonistic Western powers, especially as he had committed himself and Ghana's resources to help liberate the rest of Africa. Anyone who downplays the significance of that commitment by Nkrumah to the rest of Africa's freedom as one huge reason the West hated him would be making a terrible mistake in the assessment of our and African's History.
So, we must be fair in admitting that Nkrumah did not have the same free hand to roll out his developmental agenda for Ghana as Lee had to ensure his succeeds.
Long Live Ghana!!!

Kweku, though all points are intellectually factual yet you the CPP refusal to accept the fact that Nkrumah`s negligencen of the effect of the colonial education on the mindset of the educated Gold Coaster/ Ghanaian and therefore took over and built on it without uprooting or correcting the dangerous selfdestructive elements in the education system of Ghana as well as helping the educated Gold Coaster/Ghanaian to identify and accept the acquired selfdestructive mindset has been the main cause of his failure and that of Ghana and Africa today. The only thing Kotoka/Ankrah/Afrifa, Busia, Acheampong/Akufo, Rawlings, Rawlings/Akaah, Rawlings/Mills, Kuffour/Mahama, Mills/Mahama and Mahama/Arthur as well as the famous Dr. Amoako-Baah is their fundamental colonial education. The CPP in my view has no choice than to accept the responsibility of the undone job of Nkrumah to correct the selfdestructive mindset building in Ghana`s educational system. A country can only move forward when the majority of the citizenry have the right mindset to confidence to accept themselves and culture in order to objectively question and analize what they are told or even taught.
