“In the last six years, the NDC has borrowed US$27 billion. Before that, we, the NPP, borrowed a total of US$5.5 billion in eight years. Compare that to the NDC borrowing $27 billion in six years and ask yourself what they have done with all that money,” the running mate to Nana Akufo-Addo said.
He said, though a lot more money has been spent, it is a paradox of economic management that this level of excessive spending has only led to greater hardships being visited on the people.
“NDC inherited a public debt stock of GHS9.5 billion in 2009,” the former Deputy Governor of the central bank said. “Today, Ghana’s debt has gone up to GHS65.7 billion. So when I say the stakes are high I am talking about the destiny of our country, Ghana, the future of the youth.”
“The NDC has been taxing everything, including condoms and cutlasses. In terms of resources, this NDC government has had more resources than any other government. We did not have oil. Yet, Ghanaians know what we did with the limited resources we had. We spent money responsibly to create the NHIS, introduce Capitation Grant, expand access to education, we spent wisely on infrastructure and built more roads than any other government,” he said.

Busia could have been a leader for any country in this world. That's not mine; that was what the world said about him when he died prematurely.
The man was a respectable, God fearing leader that had a complete program for all aspects our national development. Unfortunately, the communist Young Pioneers implanted by Nkrumah in our midst did not allow Ghanaians to benefit from his knowledge and the good work he had started for the sake of this country and its people. They hijacked and impeded our development until the year 2001.
Although Acheampong was a neo-communist Nkrumahist that carried out the dirty work of overthrowing Prof. Busia unjustifiably, and was supported and blessed by all Nkrumahists who also became pillars of his so-called NRC regime, they later on tried to disown him in order to hide their involvement in the destruction of this country and its economy.
Finally, he was killed by another communist dictator that also seized power and unleashed a Cuban-style dictatorship on Ghanaians.

Personally I'm very ,uch against that 17.5 tax but the NPP and Akuffo Addo should be bold to tell Ghanaians they will remove that tax when they come to power,we need to know how sincere they are,they were against the VAT and led a demonstration against it which caused the lives of some but when they came to power they didn't scrap it but increase it.

None of our Politicians, including the MPs of all folks, failed to declare their assets as required. I wish some Lawyer could lead the demand for their hefty reprimand and even recall.
They are all hiding their true financial status to await taking turns to loot us, and claim they were already wealthy, or they had relatives who bequeathed humongous Wealth to them.
It is time our GRA looked into that and more to verify the sources of any sudden opulence in our Officials lives. If it wouldn't be for finding out any likely criminal acquisitions, it must well be for taxing them for revenues and properties acquired.

People have often down-played the possibility of this rogue bigoted soar-loser doing just what you mentioned. But I and many like you have always known that possibility. Isn't that bizarre? People, I believe conveniently refuse to accept such possibility because of their unconditional allegiance to this guy and his cohorts.
His group has a certain indirect way of soliciting Foreign sympathy with the portrayal of his opposition as some demonic anti-democratic or dangerous ultra-nationalists whose control of our Government would hurt the interests of those foreign Countries. All that triggers the reluctance of those foreign Nations and their Institutions to open their doors to us in mutual cooperation. It then also slows our Nation's progress to create harder living conditions in the Country which he capitalizes on for his political ambition to the detriment of the Nation's ordinary folks. I find that very nauseating. Yet, many folks don't realize that possibility.
There have been instances of Akufo-Addo's camp reaching out to lure the USA GOP, the Republican Party, as its strongest ally in Ghana. Some folks have suggested it is that idea of alignment with the US GOP that gave the NPP its symbol of the Elephant, just as the GOP's in the USA.
I kept wondering if these Akufo-Addo folks really know what the GOP really stands for in their estimation of Africans. OMG!
Right now, it would be an uphill battle for any of us to alert our Citizens of that dangerous International Partisan alignment because of the failure of the Mahama Administration to perform to bring any economic sanity to the People. But we better keep talking about it louder and louder to avert the direction where this Akufo-Addo would be leading the Nation.
It is a pity, the real democratic patriots like Alan and Dr. Frimpong Boateng never got the People's ear.
