Do we have to wait for someone to walk into a school in Bronx to shoot our children before we CARE.
What a shallow mind. Let us discuss the problem because we live in USA.

The National Rifle Association (NRA) is out of touch with its rank and file members. Most of the gun owners own hunting rifles as opposed to those that have been used in these mass killings. The members are in agreement that assault rifles have no place in the hands of private citizens. They have no qualms with a ban of assault rifles, silencers, high-capacity magazines, etc. But the NRA leadership has warned its members that any ban of assault rifles is the first step toward the government taking away their guns. They have used this mantra to scare the rank and file members and also as a fund-raising tool. The NRA, you should know, is in bed with gun manufacturers, who are funding them in order to defeat any legislator who proposes gun control laws.

Guns are used to do two things; kill humans or kill animals. The first is obviously morally reprehensible. The second is not necessary in a society that does not hunt for its food. To me, the second amendment is not needed and should be repealed. But I am sure the NRA rednecks do not see it that way.

The right to keep and bear firearms for personal protection is the first right of a free people.
And the movement to repeal the 2nd amendment is based on the idea of government as a all caring protective entity. It is not. Government has been just as guilty of discrimination and racism as any individual. It can happen again.
Lastly, if you are being mugged, and all you have is a whistle or police call box to defend yourself with, you are giving up any idea of avoiding the mugging and resigning yourself to describing what your attacker looked like to the investigating officer.
Like the NRA says "When seconds count, police are only minutes away"
Why did we put this on Ghanaweb.
Who cares.
