This is a rotten deal entered into by John Mahama and NDC. How on earth do you agree to pay all the debt of ECG and then hand it over for a foreign company to run it for 25 years? The problems of ECG are basically due to the existence of a huge debt owed by thousands of customers including Ghana government. If Ghana government should pay off all the debt owed by ECG and given a fresh start with new management, we don't need any foreigner to run the company for us. Now President Trump is saying that America first. To us it must be Ghana first. I believe that if ECG is listed on the Ghana stock exchange we shall be very successful and will not need any crumps from the U. S. MCA.

The government of Ghana therefore wields the power and rights to review any prior contractual agreements entered into by it's proceeding governments, but which the current administration finds and determines to be harmful bad and inimical to the interest of the government and people of Ghana. And this brings to mind the infamous Abbot agreement which was reviewed under the able leadership of Dr Jones Ofori Attah, and which was repealed and subsequently abrogated because it was bad for Ghana. Knowing very well how the previous NDC government managed national affairs with the "create loot and share" mentality, it is incumbent on the US authorities to join with the new Ghanaian government to review all questionable contracts under the Millennium agreements.

So,why was this basic Accounting -Principle overlooked or ignored by the Mahama NDC admin.Does it make Sense to the Ghana Team who signed this agreement for Ghanaian Taxpayer to payoff the Liability of ECG to be taken over by someone else. My understanding is that $486 million Grant, goes to Pay the Foreign Contractors who will execute the Job (materials,cost of work,etc).Therefore, if a Foreign Company will run the Electricity Company,it means ECG would nolonger be a Ghanaian Entity /Company,after completion of the project.Therefore the only benefit to the Country would be nothing more than"Dumsor" will be a thing of the past,and maybe Company Tax depending on the Terms of the Ag'mt. But no longer "ECG".If my assertions is correct, which I have no doubt it is; the Senior Minister or Ghana Govt should Stand its grounds to renegotiate the deal.Did Bawumia asked for the reason of what is "too late" about that!. Bad Agreement is is one of the reasons we are where we find ourselves,in my personal opinion.
