Sam Jonah was born in Obuasi and was catching tennis balls for the expatraits but continued his learning cycle to go to Tarkwa school of Mines to become a Mining Engineer to start work from the basis of the start point of every graduate. When others were stealing underground he did not follow them but kept himself and proved more ethical and was recognised and send for Management Courses to be made Deputy Managing Director and later promoted to Managing Director which according to Ashanti GoldFields Corporation conditions of service must be a UK citizen so The Queen of Englang granted it and he became a citizen to serve in that capacity.
That is the background of Sir Sam Jonah. I started working in Obuasi on 10th January 1984 so I know him and worked with him until we changed to ANGLOGOLD ASHANTI LIMITED.
