President Mahama is asking all of us to pay for expenditure that benefits just him and his ministers. He gets free housing , free food, free fuel, free Medical care, free transportation etc so he does not recognize the pain Ghanaians are going through as a result of his weak leadership that is breeding corruption.
Its true that oil prices have gone down internationally but if you have a pricing formula when they go up people pay more for it and when they go down they should pay less for it.
The depletion of cash from the nation's coffers is due to the corruption that he is not doing anything about. If he had managed to put into place systems to stop a lot of these corrupt deals he will not need to always ask Ghanaians to look forward to worse times.
By always asking Ghanaians to brace up for difficult times he is just admitting that he has no plans to turn the economy around.
By the way there is a price to pay for more taxes when your economy is already declining. According to macroeconomic theory lowering taxes has a multiplier effect in boosting the economy so the reverse is also true. Increasing taxes will have a multiplier effect in shrinking the already declining economy.
I do not know how much economics these guys know but their type of economics must be from the communist countries that believe in taxing the people and making the money only available to the leadership (AKA Stalin and Lennin)
I really do not think Mahama and his team have the relevant knowledge in economics to help us out.

President Mahama said'' introducing the tax will bring in crucial revenues that will help NDC get more money for 2016 campaign'' that is what he meant. Others didnt have oil but they built a lot of infrastructure

It is amazing that gasoline prices will be increased in Ghana when the price of crude oil now is below $30 a barrel. Do people in Ghana not know what is going on in the world now? Here in the States gasoline cost less than one dollar a gallon. The morning I paid $1.63 for a gallon. Please don't prey on the people's ignorance.
