Seriously was any real analysis done before putting up this plant. Water desalination is expensive and therefore not suitable for Ghana. what are the income levels of general population? Albeit the catchment area it serves. What are the cost of production of the other plants? How can you produce at 8 and sell 1.78? Government should look at bring infrastructure that are sustainable. These so call unprecedented developmental projects will lead us to unprecedented detrimental economy where all our gains will erode. Let our leaders think through projects analytically. This Pharisees - like development will set us back.

You took the words right out of my mouth. Are there any brains in our govt? No doubt, PhDs, Msc etc etc don't imply intelligence. At the time this project was proposed, there were warning voices about the cost of desalinated water, principally, due to high energy costs. But, our senseless president, so consumed with grandiose, but, pointless schemes, was unperturbed by that. These plants are only suitable in countries with little or no water resources. The key to good water supply is water conservation through reservoirs & effective management of rivers lakes etc. The present crisis was foreseeable. Why should Ghanaians pay for an impractical, costly, "political" project - who knows what backhanders were paid.

Whoever signed this project into being must be tried and jailed for causing financial loss to the nation. Desalination is not a cheap option. It requires a lot of energy to run the reverse osmosis units which are employed in this technology . Desalination is currently done in Middle Easter countries because they have no choice and they posses the energy to run the plants. What excuse do we have in Ghana to put in a desalination plant when each day million of gallons of fresh water run into the Atlantic from our rivers. Come on fellow Ghanains for how long should we keep electing politicians who can even ask the right questions and take decisions good for the nation!

I will never come to invest in Ghana for the reason that nothing seems to be in favour of investing in it.And with the IMF controlling the economy the economic plight of ghanaians will worsen the more.

Bills here, bills there, bills everywhere; what does this incompetent useless Mahamah does with our money? Tariff off the roof, taxes are high, unprecedented borrowing, oil money never had before, record low crude oil prices and all kinds of new taxes but this incompetent regime can't pay the bills. Why? We owe VRA, ECG, GRIDCO, BOOST, ASOGLI, TOR, WAPCO, Nigeria GAS, GHANA GAS, TEACHERS, NURSES, DOCTORS, PROFFESORS, PHARMACISTS, EX-SOLDIERS, BLACKSTARS, BLACKQUEENS,CONTRACTORS, DISTRICT ASSEMBLY COMMON FUND, CAPITATION GRANT, NHIS, GETFUND, SCHOOL FEEDING FUND, PRIVATE OIL BUYING COMPANIES, GHANA WATER and now this Desalination Plant? Where are all the money going into the Consolidated General Fund? Is it the case of plain old stealing or looting; is it corruption or mismanagement, is it incompetence? I think it is all of the above: A combination of incompetence, corruption, mismanagement, stealing, looting and wickedness are behind our woes. Mahamah must step down elected or not because he's incompetent, period.
