This man is an unmitigated disaster of a minister. He does not know book at all. He thinks that the high price and quality deficiency of goods made in Ghana is a myth. Do people read it in comic books or experience it in markets and shop shelves. What patronizing arrogance is this. Has he compared the price of imported wax print and local produced wax print. Our labour productivity is very low, our interests rates and taxes are high but we don't have competitively priced fuel, transport, water and energy. Delays at the ports, corruption and cumbersome regulation have made the cost of production high and reduced access to technology upgrades. Is he saying all these factors are myths. He should concentrate or removing those problems. Where is Ghana's industrial policy. He thinks trade is NATO. You can't talk away problems, you address root causes then they go away. Who says private sector need government to do marketing for them. Under priced imports are dumped on the market by party financiers and government turns a blind eye but wastes our ears telling us to buy made in Ghana. You can't heal an ulcer by smiling at it. But why am I surprised, this is the master communicator who asked banks to reduce interest rates by force, without realizing that government policies accounted for high risk of lending. And as long as government borrows like a drunkard or drug junkie no bank will find lending to the private sector in a killer economy sensible. But then he also warned that he will deal soon with firms that don't use local content. I am convince he is just a clown try to joke his way into the presidency. I wish him well. I am deeply embarrassed when he adds that he worked at the African Development Bank because he has no sense of rational policy making.
