I don't think you get what is happening in Ghana. The situation is much more than lack of vision. The country has been hijacked for a very long time by gangsters. What vision do gangsters have? None. Gangsters only know how to divide the people, steal and destroy. The number one gangster is JJ Rawlings. Look at what his followers are doing, much worse but consistent with what he did for 29years.

a WEAK currency should aid more exports. in ghana's case, most of her natural resources have been sold against loans as collateral. secondly, most raw goods have market rate prices on them which forbids bidding of any sort. therefore, a weak currency is a huge disadvantage for ghana. we have no factories that can produce anything of value or significance that others around the globe need. any imports into ghana will cost twice as much. THIS IS BAD FOR GHANA

Hellooo Saint Ghfuo... There is a solution to this "nothing to export" decoy... Ghana must find a way by empowering its nationals living overseas to create market for its natural resources and produce. Ghana spends a lot of money on Diplomatic affairs all over the world which have Trade Missions attached. Tell me; what do the Trade Missions do? Absolutely nothing. Imagine the Trade Missions worked with some individual Ghanaians living abroad, loan them capital that is backed up by personal assets such as houses. This loan facility must be linked to the individual importing produce from Ghana, Ghanaian chocolate, Coffee for coffee shops, pinapples, banana, bedsheets, pillows, pillow cases, tea towels etc to sell outside and generate dollars. The Trade Mission will have the duty to monitor and ensure each individual who receives such loans are accountable and repaying the loan as agreed. Ultimately, Ghana will benefit from the exports and as a result boost the strength of the poor old cedi. The Jews did this with their produce going to the US and the Italians did same with exportation of tomatoes and spaghetti. Why can't we do it. In addition, we need to cut importation of all these expensive cars; basic cars will do it. We so lack discipline and not until we come up with something very creative, out of this world, we will not be able to move forward. I dare the Minister of Trade, Minister of Finance, The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Ports and Infrastructure to work together on this and try it out. We are wasting time Ghana...

GHNANA IS ALREADY exporting cashews, chocolate, banana, pineapple, yams etc. these are small export quantities and wont really make a difference in the national gdp. you seem tot forget that other nations are also in the market exporting such goods. as i write this. im eating plantain chips and dried raisins from peru. we dont need trde missions overseas to do this. the export council in gh simply has to get off their butts and go outhere to seek new markets for where to export their goods to. they have to be disciplined and make sure their products are quality and meet world standards. we dont rice with stones in it. we dont wantdry plantain chips, we dont want dried fruit with no obnixious smells etc. we need to think big, large scale production and exports. afterall, if we cant export, our kids can eat well an not be malnourished. who will buy your gh bedsheets and pillow cases, chale woteys etc if they are still made primitiively? massa, go to walmart or the dollar store and you will better ones for cheap. we must think big,be disciplined and think quality. step your game up!

labor is cheap in mexico tats why coke is bottless in mexico.plus, the coca plant/ingredient is already coming in from south america so logistically. it makes sense to create and bottle coke in mexico. there were several coke and pepsi bottling plants in ontario, but many have been closed down also. its cheaper to import them from elsewhere becos their currencies, standard of living is cheap. north america is now a service/finance/technology and healthcare/ education society...now law enforecemnt. im moving to brasil or ghana....

Rubbish!! This is a mere lack of planning. Deal with the real issue so we can move forward. Find ways to limit unnecessary imports that waste foreign exchange. Let's eat what we produce to save money spent on imported food. Let's create export opportunities. We have Trade Representatives all over the world who do not have any sense of creating opportunities and if they do they make sure the proceeds go to their own coffers. About time we woke up and face the issues rather than creating diversions. Wake up Ghana...
