A growth of 4.5 per cent is even better. Ghana should embrace it! Some countries with better infrastructure and enviable economic institutions expect less in their economies.

The economy is contracting. the growth will fall from 7.1 to 4.5% and some commentators suggest it is good because the growth rate is better than Europe. Europe is coming out of the worst recession. In all the major economies in Europe and US unemployment is falling even with the 2% growth rate. Therefore, if Ghana's growth rate is falling it means that the current deplorable labour conditions are going to be worse.

I hope Ghana and the rest of Africa will watch this IMF group of their calcareous statements. They are enshrouding and full of very cynically exploited minds. African leaders should read Kwame Nkrumah's books.

CORRUPTION, INCOMPETENCE, RECKLESS AND UNCONTROLLED EXPENDITURE HAS BROUGHT US WHERE WE ARE TODAY. WE NOW HAVE TO SWALLOW THE IMF BITTER MEDICINE, WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED, TO GAIN A CURE FOR THE ECONOMY. SOME ARE CONSOLING THEMSELVES WITH 4.5% GROWTH AND COMPARING THEMSELVES TO EUROPE AND USA, WHICH HAS ALL THE NECESSARY INFRASTRUCTURE IN PLACE, GREAT HEALTH AND EDUCATION, SYSTEMS, GOOD WELFARE STATE AND PENSION SYSTEM FOR THE UNEMPLOYED, THE OLD AND RETIRED. ALL THEY NEED IS ABOUT 2-3.5% GROWTH FOR BOOMING ECONOMY. ECONOMISTS CLAIM THAT NATIONS NOW DEVELOPING SHOULD BE GROWING 7-8% AT LEAST TO MAKE AN IMPACT IN THE LIVES OF THE MAJORITY OF ITS PEOPLE. 4.5% WAS THE RATE OF GROWTH DURING THE YEARS OF RAWLINGS, WHEN GHANAIANS SUFFERED SEVERELY, TILL OUR GROWTH RATES WERE 7-8% IN 2000-2011. WELL, WE HAVE TO SWALLOW THE BITTER PILL TO GET WELL AGAIN. THANKS TO NDC. HOW FOR DO!!!!!!!!!!

Clearly, what is happening is the economy of the country is experiencing a very robust contraction under the Mahama/Amissah Arthur NDC gov't on the back of a huge fiscal deficit, a ballooning public debt stock or profile(which needs to be desegregated by the way) with a very high cost of servicing this debt profile at the expense of capital injection for critical infrastructural projects, rising inflationary pressures, a weakening currency which has been granted a little breather from the Eurobond and Cocoa syndicated loan, weak economic growth projections and consequently, marginally weak or dampened revenue generation and mobilization.
Clearly, these measures can be described as contractionary in nature, and falls exactly in line with the deceleration of growth as projected with it's attendant hardships on the citizenry. There can never be anything good with such a state of affairs and the results are there for all to see. The solutions, massively vote the NDC gov't out, because the contraction of the economy and it's hardships on the citizenry is a direct result of 1. incompetence 2. ineptitude 3. mismanagement 4. fiscal indiscipline 5. reckless corruption, looting and thievery with looting and thievery far outweighing any of these other enumerated factors by the Mahama/Amissah Arthur NDC gov't. There is a direct correlation between these factors and the current state of affairs, and the answer is to vote the NDC gov't out, because it is the economy, stupid.
