Without fully reading this article I wish to ask that what sense makes Ghana always think we can only make it if we 'sweat' to serve others than ourselves? After all, would we need foreign currencies as much if what we import with those currencies are produced locally? And the striking issue is that recommended export products have virtually no local demand in case 'our lords' whites do not buy they become garbage - produce we hardly dictate prices.
We imported $600million worth of rice last year alone, and how does horticulture compares to that? Can we consume $600m worth of horticulture in Ghana in case the white people don't buy or buy cheap?

First, we must concentrate in producing what we eat. Rice, corn, maize, millet, cassava, yam, vegetables, onions, tomatoes and fish and fruits. We must drink brown cocoa with honey, it must be part of the school feeding project, this would stimulate the cocoa market, reduce the importation of tea, thus saving some foreign exchange.
Serious Irrigation, organic manure and finance would help.
Horticulture is good, but remember Kenya and ?Uganda.
