GHANA IS THE ONLY COUNTRY WHERE HOME DELIVERY VALUES (HDV) OF IMPORT DUTIES, PARTICULARLY OF IMPORTED VEHICLES OF FELLOW GHANAIANS, ARE WICKEDLY INDEXED TO THE US DOLLAR, EURO, BRITISH POUND STERLING AND OTHER FOREIGN CURRENCIES NOT LEGAL TENDER IN GHANA.
GHANA CUSTOMS THEN CONVERT THESE EXTORTIONATE IMPORT DUTIES TO GHANA CEDIS TO HOODWINK GHANAIANS THAT THESE LEVIES ARE IN GHANA CEDIS, NONESENSE!
THE WICKEDNESS OF THIS BAD REVENUE-LEAKING PRACTICE IS EVENTUALLY PASSED ON TO LONG-SUFFERING GHANAIAN CONSUMERS WHO ARE EXPECTED TO VOTE FOR THESE VERY WICKED POLITICIANS IN EVERY ELECTION CYCLE.
THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE VERY CUSTOMS COMMISSIONERS AND POLITICIANS WHO ENCOURAGE THIS WICKED EXTORTIONATE PRACTICE AT GHANA'S PORTS ENJOY IMPORT DUTIES EXEMPTIONS "BEHIND THE SCENES" BY CIRCUMVENTING THIS WICKED REQUIREMENT, SO THESE GHANAIAN OFFICIALS DO NOT FEEL THE PAIN IN FORKING OUT SUCH LARGE SUMS OF MONIES AS GHc600 MILLION IMPORT DUTIES ON IMPORTED VEHICLES WHOSE CIF VALUES ARE MUCH LESS THAN THE IMPORT DUTIES LEVIED BY THESE WICKED GHANA CUSTOMS OFFICIALS.
IN ADDITION TO THIS HDV EXTORTION AT GHANA'S PORTS, GHANA CUSTOMS ADD ON A PLETHORA OF FRAUDULENT CHARGES WHICH INCREASES THE IMPORT DUTIES, AND BY EXTENSION, INCREASING PRICE LEVELS IN GHANA, AS WELL AS CAUSING HYPER- INFLATION IN GHANA.
THE ULTIMATE MOTIVATION IS TO FRUSTRATE GHANAIAN DIASPORANS AND OTHER IMPORTERS TO ABANDON THEIR IMPORTED VEHICLES AT THE PORTS FOR EVENTUAL GOVERNMENT CONFISCATION, AS COMMONLY PRACTICED BY CRIMINALS ALEX SEGBEFIA AND CARL WILLIAMS OR WHATEVER HIS NAME WAS.
THIS IS SHEER HUMAN WICKEDNESS AND AN UNPARDONABLE SIN PRACTICED BY SUCCESSIVE GHANA GOVERNMENTS.
NOW, WHEN GHANAIANS IMPORT THEIR BELONGINGS THROUGH TOGO'S FREE PORTS AND BRING THEM INTO GHANA THROUGH UNAPPROVED ROUTES TO EVADE THESE WICKED EXTORTIONATE GHANA IMPORT DUTIES, THESE GRA COMMISSIONERS AND GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS SIMPLY DO NOT HAVE THE COMMONSENSE TO KNOW THAT IT'S A SERIOUS REVENUE LEAKAGE THAT SHOULD MAKE ANY LEADER WITH COMMONSENSE STOP THIS WICKED PRACTICE OF INDEXING IMPORT DUTIES TO CONVERTIBLE CURRENCIES IN CONTRAVENTION OF VARIOUS BANK OF GHANA DIRECTIVES AND RULES.
GHANAIAN "LEADERS" ARE A WICKED BREED OF HUMANS WHO DO NOT CARE THE HOOT ABOUT HOW GHANAIANS ARE SUFFERING BECAUSE OF HIGH PRICE LEVES OF EVERYTHING WHICH REQUIRES TRANSPORTING TO RETAIL OUTLETS ACROSS GHANA.

So long as culprits are treated with kids gloves so long will nation wreakers move the envelope to the edge. What happened to TOBINCO? It is time to make example of both the shippers and the agents. Fine, jail and ban them from the business, especially the agents and other collaborators. This will serve as deterrent to others.
I hope those who found this out are not treated as the former head of Ghana Standards Authority who was relieved of his post in the wake of TOBINCO fiasco. We even had MPs coming to TOBINCO's defense. Tobin, after killing children had the audacity to claim his troubles are due to politics. What came of his employees who prevented lawful agents from performing their duty?

Get the culpits and hang them on a rosewood tree for all would be timber thieves to see. It's time to put our foot down and walk the walk. No body respects our laws anymore coz we play chicken. It's all talk and no action.
