The story behind the cashless gadgets is that they are just meaningless gadgets. It reminds me of the latest credit card schemes where one has to deposit money on his or her account (buy more credit) to use the credit card. Since when did any nation or business stop accepting cash as legal tender?
If people have to walk to the nearest hub of an ECR device to complete a financial transaction why could the very people not go to the nearest ATM machine to complete the very transaction? What Ghana needs is cross-institution and interoperability ATM's and lots of them to serve all communities. Gadgets are just a way to make money off merchants who in turn pass on these overhead cost on to customers .
