I wonder what benefits the government has derived from the single spine salary structure. Now not only strikes are going on but doctors who dont normally go on strike, have now joined the fray. Productivity is down and monies are being wasted. The gospel fact is blacks are just lazy. They want to reap where they did not sow. My advice to the government is to rather cut the salaries of all public servants and link their services to productivity.

The government needs to take big decisions to address the imbalance in its revenue; if not , it should bid bye to its promised aim to redress the infrastructural deficit in the country to create jobs.

How do you implement such an audacious policy without expanding your production possibly frontier or whatever they call it. Kufuor did this by introducing the cocoa spraying programme that saw the increase in the production and revenue of cocoa. He also attached some seriousness to the exploration of oil and he struck it by August 2007. Then NDC saw it as an opportunity to come to power by all means. And they came and the rest is the story we have just read.

What is all this noise about single spine when a first degree holder in the Civil Service does not take home one thousand Ghana cedis (GHS1,000) a month? Their so called wage bill is being over blown by their 12,000 Ghana cedis, 7,200 Ghana cedis a month, ex-gratia, 50,000 Ghana cedis housing allowance, the frequent changes of furniture in ministers offices, demands by ministers on their Ministries such as new fridges, TV, telephone bills, fuel etc. Furnishing of Ministers bungalows, generators and so on. Ask Government how much a labourer is paid in the Civil Service, what about the executive officer, the stenographer, the Director is the one who is considered for something small not even up to 3,000 Ghana cedis a month including domestic, watchman and other allowances. They should stop annoying civil servants with the single spine. Thank you.
