Thanks, Brobby. Small business men and women are suffering in Ghana. Cutting power at every turn is very hard on them. Sometimes they go days without power. They sit and wait, and they are required to pay full rent and full salary to workers. Is there nothing like small business administration can do to help them?
If you add their sufferings at the hands of unscrupulous landlords, you are talking in Joblike dimensions.

THIS IS WHERE I HAVE PROBLEMS WITH HUMAN RIGHTS LAWYERS IN THE COUNTRY- citizens have no basic needs, which is their constitutional rights, and the government have the balls to export the rights and the resources the citizens dont have to other countries-
meanwhile upon all the money the export is giving to the country those companies are still not equiped, so a layman will ask what are you doing with the incoming money from the export?
if it is bringing no benefit to improve the standard of living of the citizens then what is the need to export them while the citizens are sufering?
we should start using the court to restrain the government to stop those stupid decisions so that the people in the country will enjoy their resources-

Dr. Brobbey is absolutely correct. Ghana is nowhere near being a net exporter of electricity or should be. To put it in perspective, South Africa produces 40,000MW of electricity for a population of 50 million. Ghana's population is 25 million and they think 5,000 MW will be enough to support industrialization and infrasture development? What are they smoking?

There was a business article here a few days ago about the need of African nations to start trading amongst themselves rather than always depend on Europe and China for every need. Yet some issue always arises
that that stymie the plan, and the most sensible suggestions never materialize.
Why is everything in Africa always "impossible"? Electricity export -- impossible. Self-sufficient agriculture -- impossible. Tropical disease eradication -- impossible. Even repair of old railroad tracks, strips of metal with wood ties built 60 years before, more impossible.
If the authorities can't build or repair existing facilities and transmission lines for foreign profit, what makes you think that they'll build and repair lines for a subsidized domestic market?

Anything is possible but does it make sense for Ghana? You can only be a net exporter when your electricity supply far outstripes your demand. Right now and for the forseeable future Ghana's supply will be lagging behind local demand. By the time Ghana's supply reaches 5,000MW, the demand will be 10,000 due to economic and population growth. Just my two cents.
