I wonder the calibre of people managing the state corporations/companies in Ghana. Last time I read the Board of SIC approved to bail out State Transport Corporation because they were in financial difficulties and cannot pay its debts. SIC then paid off substantial part of STC's debts. Shortly after that STC was in financial problems again. Instead of asking STC for comprehensive management restructuring and a strategy for survival for an informed decision on potenial viability of the STC they thought simple bailing out was enough. A poor investment decision.
Now the ASCO debacle. Due to power outages the company cannot operate. Have these people not heard of power generators. They also had to call on an Institute in Denmark to come and carry out repairs. The management had no idea of skills they would be needing and therefore made no attempt to train people to meet their skill requirement even if staff had to be sent abroad for training. And another thing, why is the District Chief Excutive meddling in the management of the ASCO.
These people cannot manage a Chop Bar let alone companies and corporation.
