My son will be next boxing champ - Azumah

Boxing legend Professor Azumah Nelson believes his son Azumah Nelson Junior will be the next World Champion in boxing.

The former World Champion made this pronouncement at the Sunyani Senior High School when the Azumah Nelson Foundation was addressing over a 1000 students from five Senior High Schools in Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo region.

“I didn’t get a chance to go to school, if I had the opportunity to school I would have done better than this, but if I die and come back to the world and I become the President I will still be a boxer,” the former WBC Super Featherweight champion told Starrfmonline.com.

Azumah Nelson Junior, 19, triumphed over Sheriff Seidu in the Lightweight contest of the Vodafone Homowo Amateur Boxing at Mantse Agbonaa in Accra on Monday. Nelson Junior is also a member of the Fit Square Boxing Gym.

The ‘Prof’ was selected to the International Boxing Hall of Fame on 8th January 2004, he was inducted 13th June 2004. Azumah Nelson is a member of the World Boxing Hall of Fame.
