Gyan to promote Agbeko vrs Filipino in Accra on 6 March

The IBF has tentatively approved to sanction the International Super Bantamweight title fight between between Ghanaian and former IBF Bantamweight champion Joseph King Kong Agbeko against 28 year Filipino, Carlo Magali in Ghana next month.

The fight, the first for Agbeko in over a year, is due to take place at the Accra Sports Stadium on Independence Day, 6 March to be jointly promoted by Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan's BabyJet Promotions in collaboration with Box Office Sports Promotions and Agbeko's own Fresh King Entertainment.

Accordingly, the organisers will on Thursday formally announce the bill which is expected to include Emmanuel Tagoe, George Ashie, Kwahu Tyson among others on a packed fight in on the night of this country's 58th Independence anniversary.

According to the letter dated February 1, 2015 written by Lindsey Tucker, who is the IBF Chairman of Championships Committee, the battle for Agbeko and Magali is forthcoming.

“The IBF has granted tentative sanction approval for the vacant IBF International Jr. Featherweight Championship fight between Joseph Agbeko and Carlo Magali," Mr. Tucker stated in his letter to the tentative promoters sighted by Allsports.com.gh.

"Once we get the sanction fees, the IBF President Daryl Peoples or I will contact you regarding the names of the officials,” the IBF Championships Czar added.

If sanctioned, the clash against Magali (17-8-3, 9 KOs) could also be the first fight for US based Joseph Agbeko under his new 3-year management deal with Roy Jones Promotions

The former 2-time IBF Bantamweight world champion has not fought since losing a decision to undefeated Guillermo Rigondeaux in a bid for the IBF Super Bantamweight title back in December 2013.

"We have been doing a lot of underground work so the fight date may be at short notice, but all the fighters and people involved are all already aware and have been preparing," Box Office Promotions CEO, Alex Ntiamoah-Boakye explained toAllsports.com.gh exclusively.
